Blue Sympodium is a soft coral with an encrusting base and is considered a newcomer to the reef aquarium hobby. The Blue Sympodium is typically characterized by a blue encrusting base with polyps that have a blue center and green pinnules. The Sympodium polyps resembles Xenia coral. However the Sympodium does not display pumping or pulsing behavior like that of Xenia. It is a beautiful, unique, and a great coral selection for a beginner or seasoned aquarist.

Blue Sympodium requires moderate lighting and a moderate to strong current. Blue Sympodium contains the symbiotic algae zooxanthellae from which it receives the majority of its nutritional requirements. Additional regular feedings of foods designed for filter feeding invertibrates is recommended.
