Spongebob Favia is a very beautiful coral with unique colorization. Each polyp has a blue ring followed by a green ring with a blue center and a purple mouth. It is considered a hard coral (LPS) and is a encrusting coral that is considered an easy coral for a beginning hobbyist, or an experienced reefer. But do require an established tank with consistent parameters. They typically enjoy gentle currents, and lower lighting, along with a weekly feeding. Favia will benefit from feeding of brine shrimp, mysis, or micro-plankton. Favia’s semi-transparent feeding tentacles will extend well beyond the specimen, reaching out and possibly stinging adjacent corals. So care in placement of the Favia is important, leave a space between it and its neighbors.
